Earlier this week, the project authorities met at the company to inspect the future construction site.
In the village of Plyniai, Šakiai District Municipality, Lukšių ŽŪB plans to build a biogas plant with a biomethane purification plant and connect it to the gas grid by the end of 2025. The planned biogas plant will produce biogas using manure generated by the company and chicken manure brought in from other companies. The biogas produced, which will contain about 60% methane and 40% carbon dioxide, will be fed into a selective membrane module, where the separated methane will be fed into Lithuania’s natural gas grid.
The project is partly funded by the European Union’s NextGenerationEU Facility for the period 2021-2027 and the Economic Recovery and Resilience Facility.

The project was put out to tender and the winner and general contractor was Volflita UAB, a representative of the Wolf System Group in Lithuania since 2007, with many years of experience in the design, construction and management of commercial buildings, agricultural and engineering structures and construction projects.
The supplier of biomethane production equipment will be the German company Ellmann Engineering GmbH, whose technology is characterized by efficient and effective gas recirculation system.
The biogas upgrading equipment is planned to be supplied by DMT Environmental Technology, a Dutch company with 35 years of experience, which has installed more than 183 biogas upgrading systems of various capacities in different countries around the world and is a leader in this field.
This project will not only sustainably manage a large part of the manure generated by the Group’s farms, but will also make an important contribution to the development of renewable energy in Lithuania.
